Essay Contest Deadline has been EXTENDED

The Magical Starlight production team is so excited about the essays and the show getting closer to opening night, that the deadline for the essays has been extended to January 8th at 11:59pm.  Winners will be notified on Wednesday, January 11th.

Kids in grades 1st-6th are invited to write and submit an original essay telling us which of these Seussical characters you would like to meet and why!

General Schmitz
Cindy Lou Who
Mr. Mayor
Mrs. Mayor
Jungle of Nool

Essay Guidelines:
1st & 2nd grade: Submit 50 words or less
3rd & 4th grade: Submit 75 words or less
5th & 6th grade: Submit 100 words or less

Essays must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm CST, January 8, 2017 in order to be eligible for consideration. Please email your essay to You must include your first and last name and current school grade level in the subject line.

One winner will be chosen for each of the eligible school grades, 1st through 6th. Winners will be notified by January 11. Each winner will receive a complimentary ticket for the opening night performance of Seussical on January 13 in addition to reserved seating for their party and a meet and greet with the character of their choice.

Entries will be judged on the writer’s ability to answer the “why?” question in a creative and persuasive manner. Judges are members of the Magical Starlight production team. All judging decisions are final.
